I've tried making a Google search, but all I can get is the run-around.

This should be helpful:
http://www.tbi.state.tn.us/tbibackgrounds/background_checks_main.htm

I'm not sure which one we'd have to do, though. The sticky about background checks seems to suggest that we don't have to do the fingerprint one, though.

I hope this helps!

find the nearest small town to you and use their police station to do a local check. my family is from TN, but i've only stayed there a few summers. had one of the local stations do a check, no hassles, no questions. it took 5 minutes and they allowed a family member to pick it up for me.

I got one from TN - went to the TBI page, filled out the PDF form, and had my parents mail it in for me back in the US. It took about a week.

Last year, when I was in the states, I just went to the main police station in Nashville, gave them $8 and filled out a form (one that didn't even ask for other names used), showed them my drivers license, and they gave me a clean bill in about ten minutes.
