Have you proofread documents for companies? How much did you charge? Do you charge per word or per 100 words for example?

15,000 per 150 words or thereabouts. A lot will depend on whether you're just reading or rewriting. If rewriting, then the above is a very reasonable fee. If you are simply checking you could do it for less. Also whether you can do it at home or not can be a factor.

I do some work for a yuhakwon (study abroad) editing personal essays and that's what I charge. According to my wife it's ballpark to what companies in Seoul may charge for translation/editing services.

Don't undercharge. They may be trying to take advantage of you.

Another possibility is to give an hourly rate. This isn't common though.
