I've recently been in the process of attempting to obtain a criminal record check from the RCMP in canada and continue to encounter a bump in the road after the other. I inquired at my school today as to the police station we as foreigners, are required to use, and my coordinator said I could not simply show up at the station and ask for the fingerprinting to be done. He said I need a special form from the RCMP which apparently cannot be downloaded off their site (I would check myself, but for some reason, my computer will not allow the RCMP site to load up on my comp). He says that I need to contact the RCMP and specifically ask them to mail me a fingerprint request form from Canada to Korea. I see this as completely ridiculous. You would think the RCMP would host some sort of online form which could be downloaded and printed off. Does anyone know if this is true? My coordinator says the RCMP will not accept finger print forms from Korea ... they must be the original from Canada. Your knowledge on the above would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm at the end of my rope ... I was hoping to have my background check in hand before the end of my current contract so I could begin my new position, but it doesn't look like it will happen any time soon ... grrr ... |
