It needs to be a substantial upgrade from my A3000 Venice.
Any ideas, or anyone with an old chip lying around? |

| Free is good, but 200mhz is probably not the speed increase he's looking for. |

Hole in one. I can get 10% from an overclock and Venice overclocks like a dream. What I'm really hoping for is to get my hands on a X2.
Dazzed thanks a lot for the offer, I'll keep it in mind. |

| Actually a X2 4800 looks quite appealing. For 90,000 according to that website. Yes I know that I can get a Core2 that would outperform it for that much, but I'm not gonna be able to justify a m/b swap out without spending a lot more than the minister of finance would approve. And that X2 was a $1000 CPU when it came out. |

| I'm thinking about upgrading from my current CPU (AMD 64 X2 5200+), so I would be looking to possibly sell that. However, I'm not sure if your board would support it. |

Well if it's a 939 it should, with a bios uograde maybe. If it's AM2, no. What price were you thinking of?
edit: Its a An Asus A8N-E with an Nvida nforce 4 Ultra chipset |

I found the last AMD X2 939 socket chip available in all of Seoul in Yongsan three months ago. Sorry.
I went through one of the Korean vendors in the used parts area. It took him three weeks to find it. I'm moving right now so I don't have his card handy, but the name of the store was Fleamarket. I tried at pretty much all of the other used part vendors with no luck. It is in that area outside the main building and it has a blue sign. I got a 3400 X2 (I think) for 70,000 won. |

Hmm, for 70,000 and a 3400 I'd be better off saving for a new m/b.
Still thanks. I will probably head along there sometime anyway and have a looksee. |
