|
I have a question to ask.
I am bored out of my brain sitting at my desk, I am getting tired
of sitting at my desk surfing online.
Our school has a 'Nurse room', where students can seek medical assistance.
There are also a few beds there for people to rest in, I assume if they are unwell.
I am bored and a bit tired. The humidity does that to me.
Shall I go to the 'Nurse room' this afternoon, after lunch, and ask to lie down.
I am not ill but I plan to say I need some rest.
Is this stupid of me or would you say it is acceptable to sleep in one of those beds, simply to take a nap.
I look forward to many positive comments on this thread. |

Every school I've worked in here had a men teachers lounge with a cot or small bed for sleeping off hangovers. Well-used too. |

No, you should not ask to sleep while at work. It's not appropriate and would give you and all of us a bad image as lazy. Drink some coffee and get more sleep at night. |

But I am lazy!
Getting paid to sleep is quite appealing, don't you think?!!!
I hear what you're saying about our image, but I miss my bed! |

catch some sleep at your desk, bring a pillow to work. i see plenty of teachers doing it here.
Or find out where the rest room is - it exists in almost every school. Though getting access might be a little hard.
or just sleep more and stop being useless. |

This deserves a "WTF?!"
Your previous rantings and moanings seem even sillier now that you want to sleep on the job. You're at a public school, right? You already have it easier than many of the Korean teachers at your school. Heed the advice of the previous poster. DO NOT sleep at work, get yourself some coffee, and get more sleep in your own bed. |

When in Korea - do what the Koreans do, which is sleep. There are men's and women's room with blankets, pillows in most schools and it is good for your health to sleep.
If I am sleepy I always take a nap. My vice principal (woman) does too. Sometimes, especially in winter, the room is full of snoring women.
I've asked Ks about it and they say it is not good to feel tired and teach. |

Thank you.
Now that I've giggled a bit, I feel much happier than before.
The boredom is incessant.
I don't need to sleep now, but if I feel knackered in the future, I will definitely consider it. |

Get your blood sugars tested, you might be a diabetic and not know it. |

If other's do it and it's allowed, than by all means. I'm going into a PS job soon and think the idea is ludicrous. Being payed to sleep???? Only in Korea Sparkling I suppose.
One advantage to claim! |

No need to get tested -- just taste your urine. Sweet is bad. |

My recent medical gave me a clean bill of health. I am fickle, when I'm meant to work, I want to rest, when I'm meant to rest I don't feel like it etc. |

so "high maintenance." Or as Chris Elliot would say, "a fancy boy."
drink some real coffee and suck it up like a man. Or at least make sure they know you're from the UK. No need to give other countries a bad image. |

Yes, that really showed me now didn't it. Feeling sleepy isn't a crime, at least I'm not a Canadian responsible for abusing students, making it more difficult to get a visa for everybody to teach here.
Why should I care about image when Koreans obviously don't care about their own image in relation to how they treat their natives, regardless of how hard they try at their job.
I'd advise you to wake up and smell the coffee, if it was up to our Korean colleagues, we wouldn't have any vacation time and would probably be asleep during class. It's only thanks to the government here, that we at least get what the contract offers. |
