Are there any Americans out there who have done a visa run to Japan recently for an E-2 visa? How did it go? Any advice? I have all my paperwork in order including my visa issuance number. |

I believe there is a huge thread in the FAQs on just this. |

I did one six months ago. No problems at all. Just show up and turn in your paperwork, should take 5 or 10 minutes max. Then come back the following day to get you visa.
Just make sure you change enough money before you go, because I had trouble finding an atm in Fukuoka that would accept an American credit card. Avoid the hassle and bring enough yen with you, because a lot of stores/restaurants don't take plastic. You don't want to end up eating at the Hard-Rock Cafe just because they take credit cards, believe me. |

Yep, it's a sticky even. The OP should check it out. |

I did mine in Osaka, but this would apply to Fukuoka as well.
Make sure you call the consulate ahead of time and confirm that they will be open during the two weekdays you plan on getting your visa. They take Korean holidays as well as Japanese holidays... |

If you really need to use an ATM find a post office. It seems most of the ATMs in Japan that take international cards are at the post office. |
