I was recently offered a position with SMOE and I have all my official documents including my original diploma. My recruiter insists that they will not take my original diploma. According to the SMOE ETIS website they WILL take an original diploma to process the visa. Anyone recently sign a contract with SMOE and send in their documents with their ORIGINAL diploma? I am quite sure this is a SMOE rule, if it is even true, because I am finishing up my first year here and obtained my E-2 visa last year using the same diploma. The reason I never bothered to get a copy was that my original was good enough to get my first E2 visa last year lol If anyone could help with this I would appreciate it a great deal!

Haha you don't say. When I did my interview they guy made a photocopy of it and was acting like that was all he would need. I just thought it was to put with my resume and such didn't realize they would use it. Thanks a lot for the reply that puts my mind at ease a bit.

That's funny. They asked me for my original. I gave them an official copy. Then they said since it wasn't an original that I had to get a notarization or an apostille. Even though immigration had used the same diploma before. Sometimes I think they might make you jump through hurdles just to test your commitment on wanting to come to Korea and teach. Other times I think they are just straight up sadists.
Either way if it is possible for you to so you can call or email immigration and they will answer your questions.
