I don't know if this has been done before. There are been more than a few "what should i take to Korea threads" and i've found something that is well worth a looksie.

1) For lovers of Tiger Balm and other "heat spreads" there is something called "Mentopas" (my roomate uses). I have a similar product called "Mentholatum (kor. pron."mensolaetam").
It works really well. It has a pleasant cinnamonny smell.
But be careful, it seems to spread a little too well. I put it up and down the length of my legs, being careful NOT to put it on my inner thighs. Too late. I am typing this with a cool damp cloth on my Scro--tum. not so cool

2) for the life of me, i can't remember teh name of these pills. They are pink and the name begins with "a" in my thought. They have saved my fiance from the most vial of hangovers and made teaching on a very intense headacke a breeze

3) also bringing back one of those stone bowls. Ours is a little bit bigger. It's a good size for three eaters. A great way to cook and serve soup and save dishes.
Any other suggestions for things that are easily transported home and work well or are useful?

Alieve, maybe? If so, they're American and yeah, those are awesome pain relievers. I won't use anything else anymore.

Ow! I've done that after a day on horseback...and I don't have a scrotum...

Oh, what were we talking about?

I would bring home ginger tea. Great for any stomachache as well as a cold or sore throat.

This reminds me of the time my cousin decided it would be an interesting idea to run a hot bath with added tiger balm to sooth his aching muscles...

I wish I could pack up my ondol floor and take it home with me when I go.

Aside from that, one of my fav things from here are those nylon thingies I use in the shower. Just the right amount of scratchiness to perk up my skin in the morning.

I also bought a big black ceramic bowl that was made for cooking up Chinese medicine. I use it to mix bread in and let it raise. It's perfect.

Things I have brought back:

Pens, pens and more pens. The pens here are SO cool I bring them back for my cousins, nieces, and parents. They totally love them.

Some traditional crafts: gave my parents a traditional tea set. Some other pottery made it's way to my siblings.

gong-gi, that kids game with 5 stones. brought craploads of them back the first time I went home as I thought my nieces/cousins would love it.

Hmm brought back a lot of the crap I collected from various teacher days...I can't think of anything else. I am definately not into ginger tea or ginsing tea etc.

I was thinking about that too, did your relatives like it? What age group play that game?
