My contract ends on Oct. 3rd, but my ARC expires on Oct. 2nd.
Can I avoid getting somehow screwed? If so, how?
Does it have something to do with Oct. 3rd being a national holiday? |

It's no problem, you just have to go to immigration and request an extension. Bring your passport and plane ticket and you can get up to 30 days (but you're not supposed to be actually WORKING past the date on your ARC)

Passport, ARC and plane ticket (dated no more than 30 days from the expiry date on your ARC).
They will extend you until the date of your flight (up to a maximum of 30 days).
It is free but it IS REQUIRED or you will be faced with an overstay and the attendant consequences of said overstay (fine, delay at the airport, blackmark, etc).
Technically/legally you are not supposed to work after the last date of your ARC if you get this type of extension.

I'd like to sign on with an as yet undetermined school. Can I get a contract to begin on, say, Oct. 16th and get an extension until then, or until the end of the next contract if I ask for it before the current one expires? |
