It's beginning to look like the Republicans have a lock on the election in November. With the evangelicals and God on their side, how can they possibly lose?
But with John McCain being 72 years old, there are doubts whether he will survive four years in the White House. If, God forbid, he dies in office, President Palin would pick the next Vice President, under the 25th amendment, Article II.
Given the great importance Republicans place on experience, especially executive experience, who do you think President Palin will pick to be her replacement?
Alternatively, who do you think she should pick in order to meet the same high standards for the office her selection has established?
Note: While Senator Ted Stevens would certainly provide the greatest amount of experience on the Republican side, he would be ineligible to be vice president in a Palin administration because the U.S. Constitution forbids a President and Vice President being from the same state. Congressman Don Young would be out, too. |

The quote above is NOT correct. It is a commonly held misconception.
The US Constitution prohibits the Presidential Electors in the Electoral College from a particular state from casting votes for BOTH a Presidential candidate and a Vice Presidential candidate from the same state as the Elector.
That means that an Alaska elector could vote for only ONE person from Alaska, either President or Vice President, but not both.
The Electors from any other state are free to vote for two candidates who come from the same state.
So it is entirely possible and allowed under the Constitution, and it has happened, that the President and the Vice President come from the same state. |

Well given his prior problems with his health and captivity as a POW, I think his lifespan will be a lot less then 90. This was discussed, briefly in the Sarah Palin thread by a couple of other people.
I think the notion that they have a "lock" on the election is a pretty far flung idea. |

I'm not sure we can call it a "lock" on the election. Let's just say it's looking really good for the whitehats. 
I'd love to see Condi as VP. |

Palin and Condi for the Republicans in 2012. That is a great idea. Two women, one white and one black, but both evangelicals.
I sort of like that, the Democrats could then become a minor party of regional special interests. |

Gatsby what you say is more or less correct at the same time lets all look at the context here Mr Obama is not better than a new and improved Dan Quayle.
If anyone wishes to say otherwise Wikipedia Obama and Quayle
So if having a good resume is what is important than Obama is not your candidate. |

Really? Wasn't Quayle born to a wealthy family, went to DePauw, and then dodged the Vietnam draft? Versus Obama who was raised around the world, graduated from Columbia, attended Harvard Law School, where he became the editor of the Harvard Law Review, and then taught at the University of Chicago? On tangibles alone, Obama kicks Quayle's ass. If you look at intangibles - things like self confidence and inspirational ability, they're not even on the same planet.
Anyone who can't see the difference between Quayle and Obama doesn't deserve a vote in this year's election. |

Both are lawyers .
Obama did a little better at Harvard . While you blast Quayle's military service he has it - Mr. Obama doesn't .
