All right, time to put in your final guesses. Mine are Clinton and Lieberman.
Reason for Clinton: Barack Obama wants to unite the base and win, and if he wasn't going to pick her he wouldn't spend all this time mostly ignoring her after winning the nomination. He would be all Hillary great this, Hillary awesome that, in an attempt to win over her crowd while not actually picking her. All this time ignoring her is also a good way to keep only himself in the spotlight and make it clear that he's the one and only candidate.
Reason for Lieberman: I think McCain really wants to govern with Lieberman more than the rest and has managed to win the nomination by traveling around in the bus and doing what he does, so he believes that he can pull off having Lieberman as VP as well.
Those are my guesses. Next! |

Clinton would sure make the campaign interesting. She showed herself to be an excellent scrapper. Ol'Barry might get ripped apart by the Repub attack machine. |

For Obama: Bill Richardson. He's strong of foreign policy and military affairs, and would help to pump up the hispanic vote. Mind you, I don't know how well he'd sit with midly xenophobic voters who might prefer to have at least one white guy on the ticket.
For McCain: I agree with Mith that Lieberman would be a good choice, though if the Iraq War turns out to be a big issue, his support for foreign policy adventurism might be a drawback. But for sheer entertainment, I'd love it if McCain picked Bobby Jindal, the governor of Louisiana...

He's a Hindu-born, East Indian, Gen. Y, Roman Catholic who has performed exorcisms and has a hot wife. What more can you ask for in a candidate? |

As of late, I've been thinking that, politically speaking, the Dems might have made a mistake in picking Obama over Clinton. I'm starting to wonder if Obama is tempermentally suited to fighting back against a negative campaign. |

Which is why she (and her hubby) would be the perfect choice. They defeated the attack dogs before and could do it again. The Clinton family, for all their failings, are tops amongst political beasts. |

And Bill's special ability to charm people by making the rounds to neighborhood barbecues and events in places like West Virginia. |

It'll be either Joe Biden (D-Del) or Evan Bayh (D-Ind). |

Personally I'm in favor of Kathleen Sebelius but I don't think she'll be the choice. She's uncharismatic (to the extreme). If Obama were up by more, she might have a shot.
I'm going with Tim Kaine. And yes, as ya-ta noted, Biden said it isn't him.
As for the GOP, I'm guessing NOT liberman. I really don't think it matters who McCain chooses except I think going with Liberman would hurt him more than help him. |

Oh my sweet lord Jesus, I hope you're wrong.
For Obama: That guy from Virginia
For McCain: Ted Nugent
Reason:
O: Needs the extra oomph to convert Virginia
M: Needs something interesting, and he can show what a maverick he is. |

let's see McCain choose someone from the current admin - like Cheney??!!!
after all if McCain wins, it's just Bush part 2 right?
what if he picks Rice?? or Colin Powell?? would it help or hinder? |

They're both old. Both were in favor of the invasion in 2003. basically lieberman is too similar to McCain to give him any kind of boost. I admit I really don't like Lieberman, so perhaps I exaggerated when I said he would hurt McCain's chances. McCain needs to pick someone different from him in at least a couple ways if he wants to get any boost from his VP selection. |

I agree. He's frittered away his lead. RCP's electoral college info has McCain winning right now if the toss up states are counted. It's beginning to look like McCain will lose only if he falls off the platform.
I don't have any guesses who the VeeP nominees will be. |
