An FYI for those into experimental film and video -
This year's EX-iS (Experimental Film and Video Festival in Seoul) opens Sept 4th.
One of the programs in this year's festival celebrates the life and work of American/Canadian experimental animator, Helen Hill. Helen was into hand-crafted filmmaking (drawing on film, hand-processing footage, etc.) and devoted much of her life to encouraging people to make their own animated films. Her own films are often about those she loved: her grandfather, her pet pig, her husband, her friends. The program at EX-iS will include a screening of Helen's work (Fri Sept 5th), a screening of works by artists influenced by her (Fri Sept 5th), and a hand-made filmmaking workshop (Sat Sept 6th).
I'm pretty sure both screenings will be at IndieSpace (Subway line 2 or line 3, Euljiro 3-ga stop, exit 12), and the workshop will be at Space Cell (Subway line 3, Anguk stop, exit 1, loooong walk toward the Vietnamese Consulate).
For those who are interested, I'll post again with more details as they become available.
