Your tears are like nectar to me.
May I lick them from your trembling cheeks as you mourn? |

I guess all the students I keep running into that have conversational levels of English with excellent pronunciation must have been self-taught. Lucky parents who saved on all that hagwon tuition! |

At least you did one thing right in your 7 years here. You chose an appropriate ID. Whenever someone says teaching is useless, they are really admitting they are useless at teaching.
Better luck in your next job choice. |

Ya-ta's gotta point. As a teacher, if ya don't make a difference in a single child's life then you failed. If you did, then you are a good teacher. If your sole purpose is "english" then yea it's freak'n hard but as long as they come away with at least a better respect for foreigners from your nation then you succeeded in-a-way.
I've taught hundred's of students of various ages, grades, levels of fluency but they learned that that there is more to learning than just "How are you?". They will always remember "Teacher kimchi_pizza" in a positive light. The motivation is to WANT to speak English, not 'cause they gotta. |

I have to agree with everyone else. I've noticed markable levels of improvement in the writing and conversational levels of my Kindergartners and my Elementary level kids. They went from speaking a whole lot of Korean in class to barely saying anyonghasayeo when they see me in the street. I'm not talking about the good kids either. There were kids that I did a test with when I first came and they go a 25% who now score mid 70%'s routinely... and I don't make easy tests.
If in 7 years your teaching has been useless there is something wrong with your effectiveness that should have been noted ages ago. Good luck in your next line of work. Why don't you try teaching English to kids who already speak it. |

Why would you then take part in something you have been ashamed of seven years then? |

That's a really good point. I mean wouldn't you notice that you weren't making a difference? I mean even bad teachers in Canada go get re-certified so they can improve. |
