Hey, leaving the country and need to change some money. Need this info fast, too. Thanks in advance!
1. Will the money exchange be open on Sat. or Sun. ?
2. Will they take coins?
If someone wants to throw directions in that would be handy but I can probably find that. |

Anyone know if incheon takes coins? |

I'll take that as a no. On the odd chance that people actually start answering this thread, I have one last question.
Will it be stupid to change large amounts of won to dollars at the airport or will their rates be alright? |

changing large amounts of money at any airport, as a standard rule almost everywhere is DUMB DUMB DUMB DUMB
you will on average lose 10% changing money at airport. |

major hotels (anywhere in the world to my knowledge) change money but generally only in amounts over $100; don't know how much you are talking about but if it's a lot check out the biggest hotel in Seoul, one of the Hilton's or similar; if they won't change all of it and you need more you can always do a little hotel hoppin' |

hotels - probably the 2nd worst place to ever change money, right after airports (perhaps even worse) |

no they're not - I've done it a number of times and never had a problem and received the current rate of exchange - why on earth would you say such a thing?
clearly you don't know what you're talking about.
I've also gone to large ones to cash traveler's checks when no other place was available. |

OP, there are a few banks in the basement of the airport ( Shinhan, KEB Woori and Kookmin, according to the airport site) and they look to be open 7days a week. KEB looks as though it's open from 6 am to 9 pm out there. If you're willing to lug your change to the airport, then you're all set.
For what it's worth, the exchange counters within Incheon airport give the same rates as the banks- it's one of the few airports in the world where that's true. |

maybe Korea is different, I've never been to hotels here.
Hotels in places around the world, especially touristy places regularly rip you off in a HUGE way on exchange rates. (e.g. Indonesia - hotel rate 8900 to 1). Competitive rate at money exchange shop for a clean USD 100 bill (divided by a 100)= 9200-9300. Cash station/interbank exchange - 9142
btw. I see peppermint say currency exchange at ICN is same as bankrate.
cool - but also amazing/atypical - as she notes herself. |
