Someone I know who wants to teach English in Korea. She is from Sweden has a B.A. degree, and her English is perfect. Will she be able to get an E2 visa?
Any information about getting a visa would be great. |

She will NOT get a visa as an English teacher because she is NOT from one of the "approved" English speaking countries.
IT has NOTHING to do with her qualifications or ability, just her passport. |

I knew a Swedish citizen who was teaching here. She spoken nearly flawless english. But more importantly, she was also a professional model. She was tall, blonde, and beautiful.
If you are tall, blonde, and beautiful you can definitely do whatever you want to do in this country. I don't think you can get an E-2 Visa, so it won't necessarily be legal, but everyone will look the other way. If you are tall, blonde, and beautiful, get to Korea on another visa and start looking for jobs...I'm not exagerating when I say that you could have any job you wanted. |

There is no such thing as "perfect" English. So I'm guessing she speaks English with some non-native attributes, unless she spent a great deal of time in a native speaking environment. Only unscrupulous school owners actually employ illegal teachers, and that has gotten increasingly more difficult. So if she wants to come and teach illegally, for a hagwon director with the scruples of Machiavelli, she's welcome to come. |

She also has a passport from the Philippines as well. I am not sure if that helps or not. |

Depending on her qualifications she could get a teaching gig here. Does she have a PhD? Korean universitys are looking for more and more profs from overseas. At my school we have German, French, and Japanese profs. They DON'T work in the language dept. either. |

No, she just has a B.A.. She is just looking for a standard teaching job here in Korea. I am trying to find out if she can qualify to get an e2 visa. |

Yep she can get a JOB teaching SWEDISH. But I have not seen many Universities looking for Swedish lanugage. It does not matter if she speaks English well she can not teach ENGLISH unless she is from or has Citizenshio from one of the major english speaking nations. And if she did have that her University would have to also be English speaking. |
