Who gets to name hurricanes??

Hurricane Gustav just battered New Orleans.

Who's Gustav? Why Gustav? Why Katrina? It's offensive to anyone named Katrina. Who come up with these names?

I think it's done alphabetically. Wait until there's a Hurricane M-Su.

Good, my name isn't on the list. I don't need to be known as a homewrecker.

There was a big hurricane that happened a few years ago in the U.S. though I forget its name. Some idiots were placing calls to someone with that name and harrassing him by blaming him for the hurricane. It stunned me how stupid the human race can sometimes be.

I've also heard it's alphabetical. The names, supposedly, change gender - from one letter to the next, as well.

As far as people with Hurricane names...
Remember back in the 90's with Hurricane Andrew (almost went to California)? Well, I had a friend named Andrew and he loved the idea that his name was attached to something so monsterous. During that scare, he'd run around trying to lift people up, pretending he's had winds for hands >.>

Afro Americans complained that there should have been a more relevant name for the Katrina hurricaine, because many of them didn't know what they were talking about.

Well, it appears our African-American friends have found yet something else to be pissed about. A black congresswoman, from Florida , has complained that the names of hurricanes are all Caucasian sounding names. She would prefer some names that reflect African-American culture such as Chamiqua, Tanisha, Woeisha, Shaqueal, and Jamal. I am NOT making this up! She would also like the weather reports to be broadcast in Language that street people can understand because one of the problems that happened in New Orleans was, that black people couldn't understand the seriousness of the situation, due to the racially biased language of the weather report.

I can hear it now: A weatherman in Miami and Tampa says...

Wazzup, mutha-fukkas! Hehr-i-cane Chamiqua be headin' fo' yo ass like Leroy on a crotch rocket! Bitch be a category fo'! So grab yo' chirren, yo' Ho, be leavin yo crib, and head fo' da nearest guv'ment office fo yo FREE shit!
