I'm wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to get travelers' cheques at the Incheon airport, say at the currency changers? Here's the problem - I'll be paid my final paycheque on a Friday afternoon (will be working, no time to go to the bank) and departing Korea for good on the Sunday. I will be traveling around various countries in Asia afterwards, and would like to change all of my Korean won into T/C. Has anyone else run into this problem, or successfully changed their won into T/C at the aiport? Thanks for your help. |

There will be no place at the airport to get TCs after regular banking hours.
Change your won into US$100 bills or Euros.
Hit up a bank in the next country you get to if you are really concerned and want TCs.
Point to note: When you try to cash your TCs as you travel around SE Asia you will get a reduced rate on the exchange (lower than cash), will have difficulty changing them and if you lose them you will have difficulty getting a refund.
Make use of the hotel safe at the front desk as you travel. |

The banks are open on Sunday at the airport. Gotta go downstairs and during regular banking hours. |

Are you going to be exchanging just your last paycheck, or are you cleaning out your bank account and exchanging that as well? If you're exchanging a pile, maybe it'd be best to take care of this the Monday after you leave the job. Stay here another day or three and close up your account at your bank. You'll probably get a better rate than what you'll see at the airport. You can get extensions for extra time at immi. |

thanks for your replies. unfortunately, no, i won't be here the monday to exchange at the bank ... i've already booked and paid for my flight! my final cheque will be deposited into my account friday afternoon sometime and the only choice i think i have is to withdraw the final amount in cash .. and either change it into american $$$ or see if the banks are open sunday at the airport and look into T/Cs. i wouldn't feel very comfortable carrying around a few thousand dollars on me in cash, i'm a deep sleeper |
