Does anyone know a site, torrent or otherwise, where you can download ebooks in .txt format for free?

Demonoid is where I get mine. It's a private site though so you need an invitation.

Plug the words "Truly Free" into google. It'll be the first thing to come up.

i find this site to be quite useful, ebooks in pdf search engine.

http://www.pdfgeni.com/

if you don't like pdfs, you can just copy/paste the text to another document, like notepad or microsoft word.
