Anyone know how to safely overclock one of these CPUs? It's currently running at 2.6ghz per core. I want to step it up to 2.8. Would I need to worry about heating issues?

If you dont have to bump the vcore to get it stable at 2.8 you likely wont have any more heat than you do now. Just try it and watch the temps to ensure they remain <~60C at full load.

200MHz? That's an overclock? Any modern CPU that can't deal a pithy 200MHz above stock is flaky from production. You shouldn't have to play with vcore to get such an insignificant bump.

What do you think 200MHz will get you anyways?

I want to try running at 2.8 to see if it's stable. If it is, I'll probably step up to 3.0. I don't have any experience of overclocking so I'm erring on the side of caution a bit.

This guy seems to be running at 3.0 OK. See a few posts down.

Black edition. Unlocked multiplier and much easier to reach a stable overclock. Not sure if the OP has one of those.....?

No, I don't have the Black edition. I tried stepping up, but to be honest I didn't know what I was doing so I just left it. Better safe than sorry.

AMD cpus are horid overclockers. The current gen anyway. I played with my firends BE and I could only manage 350mhz on a quad core.
