Hello! I'm currently living in Hongdae (between exit #5 of the subway stop and the main entrance to the school) and am wondering if there are any reasonably priced gyms around here? I'm hoping to pay $70-80 a month or less...

there is one just past the seokgye hotel towards hapjeong, the actual locker rooms are with the jimjil bang in the basement, the gym is on the 9th floor above a wedding hall. it was decent. what was fun was on sat/sun going down all sweaty/stinky after a workout riding down the elevator with people going to weddings

I just joined at Swash fitness. 245,000 for 4 months (3 plus 1 sale/event) for the premium package, which is quite a steal considering the facilities.

It's 2 floors with tons of cardio equipment on the first floor, and a great weightlifting area on the second. It's nice having it split because I don't have to worry about hula-hooping ajummas bumping into me while I'm squatting.

They offer yoga, stretching pilates, dance, and a bunch of other classes that are included in the 245 price.

Head out exit two towards the Dongyo-dong samgeori (three way intersection) and it's on your left just past the crosswalk and the teddy bear shop.

I shopped around all last week and this seemed to be the best overall place.

i second swash fitness. i used to go there last year. now i go to a place that is much closer but not nearly as good. the place i go to is called VIP fitness. it's 24 hrs monday to friday and they have 2 squash courts. i think i paid 50 a month(not including access to the squash courts)...not sure, but they always have some sort of promotional offer. if your coming from hongdae, just keep walking down the main road towards TGIF and Bennigans. it will be on your right side after TGIF next to Paris Baguette. It's in the basement which is lame, but they always have the aircon cranked.
