Its a big problem. As it is, I gotta go down to a Starbucks 3 blocks away. Only in dire emergencies do I brave the squat toilet.

One of the drawbacks of working at a public school where the building is old.

If there is a western style toilet, it's a safely guarded secret.

Wow, you said you have a what 3 blocks down the street? A real coffee joint with a real western toilet to sit on like a king on his throne. All the PS schools I've been in have Korean toilets until you look in the very last stall to find a western toilet. Always look in the last stall in any Korean public restroom to find if there is a kings throne installed. If not, then squat and hold your breath while trying to score a hole in one without letting your pants catch what falls.

One of the reasons why I'm at the same school for three years. Nothing like taking a dump after a serious drinking binge and not having to worry about an accident.

I know that lots of school have out of order western toilets. It's funny how'll they'll fix the squat and they won't fix the throne

My school doesn't have western toilets. Is it really that hard to use a squatter for you people? It's not the most comfortable thing in the world, but it's not that bad.

I prefer the squatter. At least my butt ain't rubbin' on the least 30 butts that had been in there.

I don't dare to use the bathrooms frequented by the students. I made the mistake of going in one once--no toilet paper, smelled retched, and obviously hadn't been cleaned for quite some time. But the one next to the teachers' office is NICE--all of them are bidets (don't really care about that part, but at least you know they're spending money on them), it's clean, and there are no squatters.

Funny true story I have:

Last year at my school, a Korean teacher went to the squat toilet. He was wearing a white shirt/dress pants. When the teacher came out of the squatter, he had brown stains all in the back of his shirt at the belt line. I'm guessing his dress shirt hangs low in the back when its untucked to use the can.

I was like, "No way, that can't be what I think it is." I said nothing because I didn't want to embarrass the guy. Out of no where a 3rd grade student points and yells "DDONG!".

Later that day I see the same teacher wearing the track suit.

The squatter is just so awkward to use. I'd rather sit on the throne and do my business instead of trying to do a balancing act.

we were told at GEPIK orientation that they are REQUIRED to have at least one Western style toilet, if they employ a FT. You can demand it.

it's supposedly fairly inexpensive to install one (around 300 bucks or so)

and yes.. it's probably the very last one.. against the window (that's the way it is in my school... a bunch of squatters and one throne. I only sit on the throne Smile

(needless to say, bring your own toilet paper)

See if there's a handicapped toilet, which will probably be in a small room on the first floor. I didn't know there was one at mine until I had worked here over a year.

I'm lucky that my front door is a 120-second walk from my desk in the staff room.

There're only squats at my school. Therefore, in over a year I've never taken a 'dump' at work. Smile

My school doesn't have one of those; however, my hospital room did. I couldn't get the thing to work. How do you work it?

Regarding squat vs. sit toilets: My school has sitting style toilets. There aren't any squatter style. The building was put up just a few years ago.

Love those things. Nothing like a nice shot of water up the bum to relieve your alcohol inflicted piles.

I just can't work out why people find it impossible to use these.
