|
|
My teacher's/E2 visa will be canceled shortly. I have a pay-as-you-go phone I got in Korea but will be no good when I have to renew the contract/subscription because my identity in Korea will be different.
I will be re-entering Korea as a tourist. As such I won't be able to buy a normal Korean phone.
I want to know if it is possible to get an international phone, and link it to my account back home. I know very little about them, only that there is Blackberry and Samsung make some, I think. I would use it for the odd call, but mostly to receive calls and text people.
I would really appreciate it if anyone could provide some good advice or point me in the right direction. |

Your pay-as-you-go phone will be fine. Just keep putting money on it as you need to. (I assume it was in your name to begin with). IF they need to confirm your ID, just use your passport.
Phones with global roaming are EXPENSIVE to use and need to be re-loaded on-line or in the country they are from.
You can expect tp pay about US$1.50 - 2.50 per MINUTE of talk time (in AND out) as well as have restrictions on your SMS service.
Even as a tourist you will be able to buy, recharge/reload and use a pay-as-you-go phone. Pick up a replacement if you need to. Used ones can be had for as little as 30k won. All you need to get one is a passport with a valid entry stamp.

That's good to hear.
The phone is my boss' so I'll have to return it. I have another phone friends gave me before they went back home. It's an LG and was on contract. The LG store said I could change it to pay-as-you-go.
With my SK p-a-u-go I have to renew every 3 months. I hope LG policy is different. They may see that I am no longer on an E2 visa and now a tourist, and that may cause a problem. |
