I have to dress up a bit for a new job. I am having a difficult time trying to find a regular suit. I do not want a shiny suit that sparkles or has an effeminate style. By effeminate style, I mean the suit equivalent of skinny jeans or capri pants.

Can anyone recommend a men's store in Daejeon or Seoul? I don't mind paying 300k won or so for something decent. I don't have any vacation time so I can't leave the country.

Get a suit made in Itaewon. Plenty of English speaking tailors and from what I hear, pretty reasonable.

If you aren't super-sized there's a large range at Gasan Digital Complex. Go into one of the malls there and there'll be a suit floor. I'd say they are about 50% shiny or slightly effeminate, and about 50% which are decent. End-of-season ones start at about $90 (I didn't look at these properly.. maybe they're all shiny..) but current season ones are in the $190-$350ish price bracket.

I second the going to 이태원. Go in the morning when they are just opening up and you'll likely get a slightly better price being their first customer of the day. Find one that speaks decent English and work with him to go over what you want. I don't think any of them do the actual making of the suits on location. They're probably all outsourced to the same two or three places, so it doesn't really matter which "tailor" you use.

Is there anywhere where I can buy liberal men's suits?

I'm a Democrat.

nah, I see what the OP is saying. I just bought a suit and explicitly avoided all the shiny *beep*...which is harder than it sounds. So many modern korean suits are made of the tackiest materials I've ever seen. Just getting a straight black suit was...difficult.
