I've been here for a year drinking milk the whole time. Then about 3 or 4 months ago I notice that milk does not sit well with my stomach. So I figure I have become lactose intolerant while being here. However after going back to the U.S. and drinking milk again nothing happened, no gas, no stomach aches, nothing. I thought that lactose was lactose and it would affect me in either place; unless lactose isn't the problem. BTW cheese and ice cream appears to not be a problem, just milk. Anyone have any ideas, similar experience?

Intolerance is a terrible thing. You shouldn't be intolerant... Razz

Seriously though I have the same thing happen. If I load up on too much milk products either here or back home it does NOTHING good for me until about 3am when It's gone. The next day nothing will happen. My wife has the same problem.

The milk may be a bit different in NA than in Korea. It's probably the mad cow. I'd go to a Doctor and get checked out if it keeps happening... until then just lay off the milk. Cheese, Yogurt and Ice-cream have things in them that allow your stomach acid to work in slightly different ways that may help break down lactic acid (I think).
