Similar to a tiara, but more robust.

My Korean colleague just had a crown on a front tooth. Cost him 250,000 won.

We're not in Seoul, mind. I don't know if that makes a difference.

It's when they grind down your tooth to a stump, and put a pre-moulded artificial tooth there.
If it's the front teeth, then they could insert some means of secure attchment between your tooth and the crown. Side teeth are usually a tight fit and pressure alone will keep them.

OP, I think a figure of between 250-500K.
I was quoted 500k for each of my 2 front teeth, but the next dentist did some filling and crowns were never required in the first place.

Depends where you go, my last dentist in Bundang charged 400K per tooth requiring crowning, bridging or a big filling.

yep...also, K-dentists are crown-happy because it's a good money-maker. often your tooth will just need a filling but they will hem and haw and say that it's better to get a crown because your tooth won't be strong enough with the filling alone. if you don't think you really need it or don't want to spend the money, then I would just get the filling. if that doesn't hold up, you can always get the crown later anyway, but once you get the crown, you can't change your mind about it.

It depends on the type of veneer, but it can range from 400-700 000 won/tooth.

I agree.

If anyone is here only for a short time (a year or two) then it's a good chance to get your teeth fixed at a good price before going back home. I once had a scaling, two old fillings replaced with new ones plus one or two fillings for new cavities and the whole thing cost me about $50! Back in Canada, the scaling alone would have been much more than that.

In case anyone wonders if the work was well done, I had to see a dentist in Canada following a car accident and I told him about the fillings done in Korea. The guy took a look and told me my Korean dentist had done a very good job. The only thing that worried me when I went to get the work done was when the Korean dentist asked me if I wanted to get a shot of an anesthetic or not. I told her I wasn't sure because I simply never had the choice when I was in Canada. Since I don't like needles too much I decided not to get any and I didn't regret it. At one point, I did feel like something was kind of pulling inside my teeth, but it wasn't something I'd call painful. A few weeks later, a coworker went to see the same dentist. She refused the shot, too, and had nothing to complain about it either.

...

Dr. John Kim and associate are Harvard Dental graduates who worked in Boston before opening their office here.

I am having an implant done soon, but so far treatment has been quite professional.

They have two offices in Seoul. Call 752-2878.

Just to chime in on the crown discussion:
I had a root canal done back in the states and am getting it crowned over here.
Cost was 455,000 won for a gold/porcelain. (They offered me one made entirely of porcelain, but supposedly that material is weaker and more expensive (500,000) and the staff didn't recommend it.)

They quoted me 60,000 for a scaling. Seemed a bit pricey to me.
