Anyone seen either of:
Big Love
or
John In Cicinatti?
Replies from anyone that's seen full seasons would be appreciated.
But any feedback is cool.

Big love is OK, but not great. Worth a torrent download. On par with shows like Weeds and Huff. (Huff is better actually)
John from Cinci was one of the most disappointing series of all times. The first season kicks ass. But the religious overtones never become understandable - like "lost" you'll be trying to figure it out and it'll feel like a brilliant puzzle - but unlike "lost" JFC's producers apparently had no idea where they were going with the show.
Also, avoid the John Adams series too. Unless you like listening to people mumble in colonial accents.
Now, Tombstone was probably the coolest HBO series ever, but was cut short at the end of its third season, despite great reviews and the understanding that it was supposed to be a four season deal, because its creator, David Milch, pitched the JFC idea to HBO who loved it and decided to cancel Tombstone. Watch Tombstone, if you haven't. |

Tombstone was good, but better than The Wire??

I thought Gen Kill was a movie coming out---good thing I'm reading this-ha.
Yeh the Wire for my money is the best show ever made ---like a great movie that goes on for 80 hours or so. I'm glad they stopped though--not sure if there was anywhere to "go" after 5 seasons. |

Generation Kill would count but it really isn't a series. Just seven and done. It was amazing too.
I think it was appropriately short. Based on a book and a true story I think. Generation Kill couldn't stretch something like that out a couple of seasons. |

I love the HBO/Showtime shows.
I hear that "Breaking Bad" is very good, but I am having a hard time downloading it.
IMO, the Wire, The Sopranos, and Deadwood are/were great shows. Also, Six feet Under is involving.
Oh, and Rome was good |

just started entourage... fking hilarious... big love is kinda like a soap opera and not very interesting (unless you have ties to the mormon church in which case it would prob be riveting)... the wire, fantastic and will keep a season continuously on my ipod for traveling... dexter is great and i'm looking forward to season 3... flight of the conchords is great too... heard they were gonna make another season (or a movie) of the sopranos.. just a rumor i think... |

It's done. It was basically a slightly padded rewrite of a very short book written by the Rolling Stone reporter (Wright?) so they couldn't really make it longer without fictionalizing it.
Flight of the Conchords season two is going to be the last one they do, says Germaine. Quality over quantity, that's the HBO way... |

Seconded
Also. I actually enjoyed John Adams. But I really like history, and the show was an interesting perspective on the formation of the United States through the eyes of an interesting man.
Although, I would have enjoyed it more if they took it from Thomas Jefferson's point of view because he's so much cooler. |
