I'm curious to hear what other countries people have taught English in. Did you like them? How did they compare to Korea?

I taught in the Czech Republic for 2 years, I did a year in Korea then moved to Japan.

Czech was great for the beauty of the land and the ladies. Beer was $1 and tasty. If you wanted to go to another country it was an extremely cheap train ticket (if you headed east). I used to go to Slovakia whenever I had a Pizza Hut craving.

Korea, well, you all know about that.

Japan is a better Korea in many ways(money not being one of them) but I don't really feel like I am living in a foreign country. That may be because I am in Tokyo, while I wasn't in the capital cities in my previous countries.

Singapore and Australia.

Singapore was good, despite the year round heat. There wasn't the language barrier there and the pay was alright, I just got to a point where it was time to move on.

Australia was good for work conditions and cos I'm from there, but the tax seemed high after Singapore and it's gotten really expensive in Sydney where I'm from. Plus I met a Korean girl in Singapore so I came here...

England - 1 year
Canada - 1 year
Brazil - 8 months (best place I've ever lived, hands down. Just too bad the school went belly up and I had to make a quick decision on leaving/staying)
Japan - 1 year
and now,

Korea - 2 years, almost into my third.

2 years is a long time (especially at Nova) and it was time for a change.

korea? 4 years, TONS of money, fun lifestyle, lots of travel.

canada? 2 years, dull as a paint slurpee, not enough money.

japan? so far 6 months, just enough money and surfing. plus i get to speak japanese, which is at least 11 times more interesting to me than korean.

Korea, Brazil, and Japan.

I agree with the Japan and Brazil statements previously in the thread.

I'd enjoy doing Skype interviews with some of you on a podcast. It would be good for readers to hear what it's like to teach in these different countries. Interested? PM me, please!
