|
|
I'm a US resident currently residing in Korea.
I just finished a contract, but due to scheduling my visa runs to late September.
I need to get a CRC from the States and my last home state was New Hampshire. According to their website I need to get the request form notarized... http://www.nh.gov/safety/divisions/nhsp/ssb/crimrecords/documents/dssp256.pdf They will also only accept payment via check or money order. I don't have any checks. Anyone know where I can get a US money order here?
So I need two notarizations. one for the request, and another for the CRC itself. And these can be done at the US Embassy right?
Is it $30 a pop for a notarization? Would it be possible to have it in hand by the 24th?
A friend of mine was able to transfer his visa from one job to the next via a release form, and didn't have to leave the country. Also said that he had the CRC, but it turned out he didn't need it. This was back in March. Anyone else out there who has been able to do that? My prospective employer said it's no longer possible. Another recent rule change? Or does it just depend on which person you see at immigration?
Thanks in advance for any answers / advice. |

Before March 15, 2008 it was possible to change / extend a visa without a CRC.
New visas required a CRC starting Dec. 2007. Extensions/changes didn't require a CRC until March15, 2008.
It is no longer possible to change or extend unless kimmi has a copy of your CRC.
Notarizations at the embassy are done while-you-wait and must be done in person (they have to see you sign the document before they stamp it).

Most banks with a forex desk can sell you a money order. shinhan, worri and KEB do for sure. Call their English service if you need help at the bank.
For woori bank the number is 1588-5000 - extension 7 for English. You can also call 02-2008-5000 ext.7. |

Is there a Korean word for money order? A few of the teachers had a go at that here, but the bank teller showed me the ATM with the check option when she read the note they wrote. |
