|

Hello,
Unfortunatly I wont have health insurance in this country for about a month... thats ok, except that I need to go to a doctor. I would like to go to an ob/gyn, but I guess that might be expensive, perhaps a normal doc can do the tests I need, just some blood tests... anyway, does anyone know how much it costs to see a doctor here without health insurance?
Currently Im a tourist but I should have a real job quite soon then do the visa run deal... but till then I am without insurance. I tried to search for an answer, but I suck at using the search engine. Any ideas? Thanks cause I have another friend here who is in the same situation, if you could help us that would be really great. |

You can just go to a doctor and even without insurance the fee is pretty reasonable. It's probably different for bigger hospitals (more expensive) but it costs 5,000 won to see my local quack,...uh, I mean doctor. I've got some bronchial thing going on and meds for 3 days came to just over 10,000 won. |

I haven't been to the ob/gyn yet this year but my last full exam 3 years ago without insurance was 80 000 Won. I also had some blood tests done separately and they cost me 50 000.
I don't know if this is what is usually costs but it was a pretty comprehensive test at a private surgery. |

ok, so that price isnt so bad (Im from America... so we are used to paying a lot to see doctors) but the next question is, how do I find an English speaking doctor? I friend recently told me about a womens hospital, and thats fine for me, but I am also trying to find a doctor for a guy I used to work with... I doubt they will see him at a womens hospital... Where could a guy go to see a doctor? |

Don't worry about it. All doctors speak at least some English.
I've had some who have to speak really slowly and think hard about what they're going to say and others are comfortable with English. I'm seeing one now who usually greets me with "What's up? How you doing today?"
You should be fine. |
