|
|
Ok, so I know that this has probably already been discussed, but I'm having a hard time finding the info that I want. For winter vacation (I'm in a public school) I plan on doing an extended temple stay at Gogulsa (spelling) of 1-2 weeks. I was wondering, first if anybody knows if extended stays are doable at Gogulsa and second, if anybody has done them (or even short stays). Any recommendations or suggestions would definately be appreciated. |

Man, where did I see the info that would provide an answer? I think it was a website out there and/or a map. Let me poke around my pad a bit later and see what I can find. I think there's a map available with all the temples, and it lists those which allow stays. I may have that map. |

Sure. I'd bet there's a website out there that gives the info you seek as well. |

That's one I'm talking about, Stormy. I got that from the Korean Buddhism site. Haeinsa is a great place to go either day or night. I'd love to do a stay sometime, even if one does get up at 2:30 a.m. |

I was going to do one with my mum during the Summer break but even though I sent them an email & filled out a form & all that jazz I never heard back from them.
By then I was too busy to chase it up. I'd still like to do one some time before I leave Korea though. |

I did one recently at the Lotus Latern north of Seoul. It was not what I expected at all. It was supposed to be lights out by 9pm but there were middle school students giggling and running around until all hours. There was too much free time of just doing absolutely nothing. And finally it was supposed to be in English but everyone was Korean so I didn't understand what was being said.
I was so glad it was only for one night. |

I'll do two templestays next month. One at Naesosa. One at Haeinsa. I'll go on a Friday afternoon and maybe stay the weekend. This upcoming third is a holiday, so it's off to Naesosa. |

I was truly disappointed. But lately, ever since I turned 30, all kinds of things are not fun anymore. I went to the Philippines and that was just boring too. All the wanted to do was go home.
Maybe you shouldn't listen to me about the temple stay. I may be suffering from crustiness. |
