|
|
I am trying to obtain a criminal background check at the state level in Ohio. I asked my local police station and they just gave me a paper that says I have no local criminal record. I told the officer I need a statewide criminal background check. He said, "We just check our records." I asked him how I can get a statewide check and he said, "Gee, I don't know."
Any advice? Is it okay to go to a police station where I don't reside? I'm googling for "criminal background check Ohio" and not finding anything useful.
Thanks in advance. |

Isn't a local check good enough? I thought it was, so long as you got it apostilled?
My local check looks sort of like a joke. |

| Somewhere on this site is a link to another site that lists all the states' physical and electronic addresses one needs for getting a CRC. |

| You shouldn't need a statewide check. You probably need your local check certified by the secretary of state or somesuch. |

| Go to your county sheriff's office and tell them you need a FBI CBC. I did that this summer in NE Ohio and got it three days and $30 later. |

Ohio checks are really cheap and easy as long as you are there... I got a state check for less than $40 including postage and apostille fees.
Apparently the dude who replied got it done for under $10 bucks, but he lives in Columbus where all the offices are. I can't believe the sheriff's office only charged 5 cents.
