Whenever I download wavs - or torrents, they immediately save as winamp files - which means they don't open as they should!
Any genious out there know how I prevent that from happening? I'm guessing somewhere that winamp has been set as my default setting for various files - but for the life of me I can't find where I can change that.
Thanks in advance,

| Right-click the file then choose "open with" , choose the player you want to use, and then check "always use this application to open this kind of file". |

this is because winamp is your default media player ... so all audio files will appear as winamp files.
the previous poster's fix works. but it's important to know why it's happening.
any time you install new software, it usually makes itself the default. if you install itunes, your mp3s will change to itunes files. this doesn't change the file, it only changes the icon graphic and file's association.
same goes with all files, including images, movies, etc. |
