Does anyone know of any way to prevent being redirected to .co.kr when you type in .com? I just want to download firmware for a samsung product, but I'm always redirected to .co.kr no matter how many times I type in .com. Also, many pages don't have links to other languages, they just direct you based on your ip. You'd think that if someone lives in a country out of the US, they'd know how to type .co.kr/.uk/.cn etc.

it's not that simple.

different countries have different trade regulations, rules, taxes, and marketing strategies. sometimes companies offer completely different options or products in different countries.

so, samsung wants you to be on korea's site, because they can control where you go and what you see. they can also maximize their potential sales by ensuring that you're targeted locally.

it's not a matter of convenience, it's a matter of profit.

having said that. they redirect you via IP. the only ways around it is to hide your ip (proxy) or see if their site allows you to choose your destination (like google, etc do).
