|
|
I went home for a bit this summer and picked up some great 8GB flashdrives at Home Depot.
But they're so useful, I'm thinking of transfering all my old back-up CDs onto others. Now I wish I'd bought more.
Are they here yet or are they still peddling the 2GBs? |

Of course. I bought one online last week for under 20000won. 16gb flash drives are around 45000won or so. |

I bought one a couple of months ago for 32k. Prices have fallen dramatically recently.
If you are overseas, you may want to compare prices. USB flash drives used to be cheaper in the States, but that might have changed. |

8GB? They're selling 64GB flashdrives in Tokyo. You're behind the times. |

Yeah flash drives and SD cards are cheaper in Korea. Although prices come down very quickly in North America too. |

Look, if you buy flash memory in Korea at EMart, etc., it is going to cost you a ton. If you buy your flash memory at Target it isn't going to be a bargain, either. You have to know how to shop, either way.
Here is the price for a 16gb usb flash in the States, found with less than 60 seconds of searching: $42.99 with free ground shipping.

Here is the price for a 16gb usb flash in Korea: 42,900 plus 2,500 won shipping.

BUT, you need to check the transfer speed on these flash memory drives. Some are much faster than others. These just happen to be two cheap models I found quickly. I have no idea which is faster.
You can find stuff in Korea at good prices, often comparable to the U.S., though sometimes cheaper, and sometimes much more expensive, provided you know how to shop.
The problem is that in Korea you will not be familiar with many of the brands, and may have trouble deciphering the specs. I am clueless when it comes to Korean headphones. Some of them look good, but who knows?
There is no universal answer to whether you should buy things here or bring them. I don't think you are going to save a great deal here. |

I second that; always buy your stuff where they sell tons of it, and not in boutiques or shops located in expensice malls.
I just bought a 1TB Seagate FreeAgent external drive for 240,000 won at Technomart (which is still more expensive than Yongsan I guess). Before that I had checked the prices at Target in COEX and they had a 500GB drive there (also Seagate) for a whopping 235,000! Same model at Technomart is 120,000 or about half!
ANother thing, my vendor told me to buy quickly because the shipments currently in customs are going to be priced to the new Won rate, which means prices will go up 5-10% once stock is depleted. I think I'll get me another terabyte or two today. |

500g seagate is around 70,000 at yongson. With a basic case add another 15,000 - 20,000. If it has to be a "free agent" desktop, that's 110,000 on danawa. The "free agent" pro is 153,000. |

Interesting prices. I'm sticking to the free agent because I got about 14 of them now, so anything else would break the symmetry. And happy that Terabyte storage is now affordable, I'm running out of desk space.
BTW hope you get your books or money back! |
