				| I know this generally depends on the Hagwon, but to do most folk get time off for Christmas? My friends and girlfriend are all off and are Thailand/Philipines bound, but I think I may be rostered to work.
The last time I requested a few days off my Director nearly had a breakdown and went weepy on me. So yeah, whats the deal with Koreans and Christmas? If I explain that its an Important holiday at home and is spent with family or friends would your average Korean boss be sympathetic?

				| Why would we get time off at Christmas in addition to the red day on the calendar? It's an important holiday back in Kansas but not so much here. | |

				| Christmas is a one day thing here. Christians spend it in church and boyfriends/girlfriends spend it in coffee shops. That's about it. Do Koreans living abroad get 3 day Chuseok vacations? No, they don't. | |

				| What a bunch of assholes we have on Dave's.
Most hogwans will give you your winter break over xmas time, there's only a few tight-ass schools that don't. You need to stick up for yourself.

Take the holiday when you want it, go buy the tickets and then show your boss. If he has a problem get a new job with a decent employer.

				| I think it depends mostly on how many foreigners work at the haggie. If you're the only one, forget it. If there are a few of you, anf the others haven't already reserved that slot, then ask for it. The other posters are right though, it's not that important here. On the other hand, I have known Koreans back in the US to call in sick for the whole of Chuseok. | |
