|
|
| I can't connect at my school even though they gave me a dsl line. I was able to do it in America when I first bought my computer at my friends house. I think my new laptop doesn't like the IP address. How can I get it to forget my friends address in America and accept the one from my new school? I haven't time to call my local ISP provider yet to set up an appointment for my home but I will soon. |

I got connected through local internet provider, but I can't watch anything I download. I get this message... "Windows cannot open this file, to open this file windows needs to know what program you want to use to open it, windows can go online to look it up automatically or you can manually select from a list of programs that are installed on your computer."
I tried to see a list but I wasn't able to ever select, so used the web service to find the correct program. That was Adobe Media Player, I downloaded it but it "isn't available in this country/Korea."
What should I do, I can't watch/see anything I download. Again, it's an HP with Vista. At one point(during the Adobe download) it asked me about Active X, thought it downloaded but I don't see it at the bottom bar. I've quit taking my new laptop to my school because I can't use/see how to use "Karafun." |

You are missing some of / most of the necessary codecs.
Use VLC player
OR
go to the CCCP project and download their newest codec pack - then even windows media will play everything.

I'm Mr. download(or is that helpless?), but I still can't watch/see Karafun(or anything else for that matter I'm sure). I downloaded codecs("vista") which I found on the last/3rd page and VLC player. I deleted adobe media player after trying it again after I downloaded the above(VLC player and codecs for vista). |

Is your version of karafun properly installed (it is a karaoke player/viewer isn't it? http://www.karafun.com/karaokeplayer/ ) or are you just trying to play the karaoke files in a media player?
Do you have the VISTA version or the older version?
http://www.karafun.com/karaokeplayer/ver11.html
Also, it requires directX9 (not active x) to work. Do you have direct X9 installed?
Minimum configuration
# PC Windows 98, 2000 or XP (95 and NT are not supported).
# DirectX 9.0c. Download the last update of DirectX...
# Screen resolution of 800 x 600
# Pentium 3 at 850 Mhz
# 256mb RAM
# Direct3D video card with 16mb RAM
# Sound Card
Recommended configuration
# PC Windows XP
# DirectX 9.0c. Download the last update of DirectX...
# Screen resolution of 1024 x 768 or better
# Pentium 4 or better
# 512mb RAM or better
# Direct3D video card with 64mb RAM or more and MPEG video playback support
# Sound Card
You can also convert the karaoke video files to avi or wmv formats and play them in windows media (or other players)?
