Sad to see Christianity turned into "an experience" which for many, is forgotten and left behind after the excitement wears of and life goes on as normal.

Anyone can become whipped-up into a display like that. It's not the holy ghost. It's mental. I used to attend a church like that, and the chants and the way the music repeated over and over was like a mind job. It was like a drug, and was so much fun. Meanwhile, my job suffered. My non-church friends were nonexistent. My family became worried. Then it all came crashing down when my super-religious girlfriend I met in the middle of it all broke things off months later. I didn't want to attend church there anymore because I just didn't feel comfortable seeing her. She became embarrassed because another guy she'd broke up with 2 years prior did the exact same thing, and people were apparently talking about that fact. Her response was to tell me I was "running from God" by attending another church. I was lower than ever. She was very good at convincing me it was all my fault. The pastor at that church was kind, but I just couldn't stick around.

I bounced around from church to church, and it wasn't until some time later that I realized how far overboard I'd gone. I must have drove people crazy as I tried to solve my former relationship's demise like some kind of math problem. God brought a really great friend into my life who showed me a different way of being a Christian, and who helped me through the tough time. I miss my friend sometimes. He's still back home.

It seems a decent way to let off steam. Better than walking around looking for fights.
