Your "f" and "g" keys seem to be stuck together. What activity are you doing near your computer that causes your keyboard to get sticky?
As for your question, I knew a VERY attractive blonde female teacher who went to go teach in the Middle East. She did not have a Masters, or a teaching certificate...but she was VERY attractive. She never had any trouble finding a job. She absolutely HATED the Middle East. She was treated like shit and there was absolutely no place to drink/have fun/blow off some steam...she felt like she was in prison. A really hot prison. |

If you want to teach in the Middle East, you should go to Bahrain or Dubai (in the UAE) if occasionally having a drink is important to you. You should ideally have a master's degree, or you may have some horrible jobs. Why don't you go to Europe? The Middle East can be great, but it also has many problems if you don't have a master's and the right job.
Europe or Japan are safer bets for those tired of Korea. I would go to the Middle East, but I kind of know the lay of the land, but I would perhaps go to Europe first unless I were sure that I was getting a good job in Dubai. As far as it being hot, as the poster said, it does get like an oven over there, but there is A/C all over the place. Some people have had good experiences in Dubai and Oman. There are some pretty good jobs out there. I wouldn't jump to go to the Middle East without doing a lot of homework and this is from a person who once lived for some years in the Persian Gulf going to an international school.
I did read of a teacher having a problem in Kuwait when she disciplined a Kuwaiti child who had influential connections. His mother was upset.
The teacher was incarcerated for a bit, I believe. I don't know the details. It didn't hit the US Press. I just read it on Dave's ESL on the international board. But, the story didn't surprise me. It is realistic.
Some have taught in Kuwait and had a good experience. You will find great food there, a modern country, a high currency, but make sure you are at a good job. You can't drink there, unless you make your own alcohol in your own apartment or find someone who sells it illegaly (that may have risks). |
