many of my adult students have told me that during Chuseok hotels tend to offer discounted rates. I'm thinking of spending a night or 2 doing nothing but relaxing with my girlfriend. Don't mind splashing out on 1 night, was thinking of staying at the Grand Intercontinental. but they're not offering any discount.

Anyone know of some Chuseok hotel deals?

yeah, did it last year, but you may have left it too late already. google the Hilton, Walker Hill, Marriot etc. and call their Seoul numbers directly, ask if they have a Chuseok package. note: one of you has to be Korean in order to get the deal, they don't let two foreigners have the discount.

I should jolly well hope so. Koreans frown on pre-marital sex, you know. And on mixing of the races.

I was able to find this one:

http://article.joins.com/article/article.asp?total_id=3284833

80,000 won at the Ramada Seoul. It includes a room, buffet for two, free access to the fitness center and 50% off at the sauna. It's not the best hotel around but it still sounds like a good deal considering motels in the Gangnam area easily go for 70,000 won+.

did you call? or is that changed since last year?

the manager of the Millennium Hilton I spoke to last year said, before I could even ask about the details, that this deal was NOT available for foreigners and only changed her tune when I said one of us was Korean, she (seemingly) reluctantly agreed that would be ok.

Westin and Shilla stated on their websites that foreigners with arc can stay.
국내 거주 내국인 및 국내 거주인증 소지 외국인 이용 가능합니다.

not sure the other two but you can ask.

The Hyatt Package B (130,000),
plus Poolside Bar-B-Q Buffet (56,000per)

is the best bet in my book. We made our reservations a week ago.

well, that's good. it seems odd that they would even have to state it at all, right? I wonder if they got any complaints...
