I am selling an extra studio mic I have. I purchased it to voice my podcasts, and it does a great job, but my wife thinks I have begun to collect too many mics.
You can actually hear how it sounds if you listen to the opens of several podcasts, including the F-5-9 podcast, counseling podcast, and several others.
This mic is bigger than my others, requires a quieter room (we live next to the school, and many noisy cars/students) and a stand, which isn't a match for our tiny home, or pleasing to the wife. It's really more mic than I need for a podcast anyway, and would be much happier recording a singer, instruments like a guitar or piano for a demo tape in a quieter room, for example -- it's extremely sensitive, and picks up every subtle nuance. It's quality-built in the USA, in perfect condition, and has been used for just a month. Comes with box, mic sock, and all accessories/papers included when I got it.

Cheapest you'll find 'em new online in Korea is 380,000. I'll let it go for 290,000.

300 bucks = 329,000 won at current exchange rates.
290,000 won = $265 |

...not to mention shipping within Korea will cost you 6,000 at most as compared to the shipping plus customs from abroad. |

Expect to pay up to 40% in customs fees on it, if shipped from the US.
I just ordered an ART MP USB tube preamp for $100. Shipping is now $50 (US postal service ended all but express shipping -- no more slow boat prices). I'm probably going to get nailed with a big ass duty, too.
I don't care. The buttholes in Korea don't even have it, or charge an arm and a leg more here. |

Customs is a basic 10% VAT on imported items over $150USD (price+shipping) for individuals. The cutoff rate is higher for businesses.
Then depending on the product, there are duties applied accordingly.
Many things such as computers and computer parts are apparently duty free, just VAT is added.
The declared product value plus shipping is the most important part.
If the item is undervalued, it can bring you under the limit and you may sidestep the charges. However, that is illegal.
If your preamp and shipping comes to $150, you'll be pretty close. |

It wouldn't be so bad if the stupid US postal service wouldn't have gone to the expensive shipping option only.
We can thank high gas prices for that. Now that gas has come down, they still keep the prices high. Assholes. |
