whippie goddam do... Sad

i mean, is there something more than this here in the Korea? it's the most i've ever earned in a month but why aren't i thrilled about it?

i feel so tired and homesick and wondering...wondering...perhaps it's better to live with less among my own people? is it worth it getting up at the crack of dawn, gone all day and most of the evening, working the weekends to under-cut the competition and beat the taxation on my capital gains instead of loving my wife and spending my time with my kid? gee, i miss them and the way it used to be. they're strangers to me now and just don't seem connected anymore...

is this all there is?

Cut back a bit buddy. It's not worth it. If you're doing what I think you're doing than you're working like a dog and headed for burnout.

You will work just as hard around just as many assholes in your home country for the same amount of money.

Unless you make personal and social changes, you'll be unhapp with this money anywhere in the world.

Wow OP, you're stacking and working your tail off if you're doing what you say you're doing. Just in 1 year at that rate, you'd have enough to start your own business. In just 2 years, you'd have enough to maybe buy a small house, boat, horse, car, and small business of your choice. That's awesome dosh and is what's needed to do well. So go ahead and make your money and when you feel like it, go home.

Say you make 2.5m a month at a PS or hagwon from 9 to 5, that means you'd have to make 9.5m on your time off to achieve 12m a month. And if you make 50k an hour, that means you'd have to work 190 extra hours a month!!!

That's a whopping 47 hours a week more on top of your full time regular job.

If not working a regular job, but just teaching the hours, it would be 240 hours a month if making 50k an hour. That's 60 hours a week! And that doesn't include commuting, breaks, waiting around, and some going out in the evenings with your students and/or parents. Also consider that most extra classes don't pay 50k, but more like 30k so in reality you're looking at 80 to 100 hour weeks before you even add commuting and other down time.

Teaching is not normally a profession you can get rich on and I would bet that 95% of us are making less than 3m a month.

Yeah, me too. Unless the guy is doing 40 hours p/wk at 70k p/hr, or 50k at 60 hours, or the figure quoted is in HKD's?

I made 100,000 last month selling ice bergs to Saudi Arabia.

I also made 40 Gs when I sold reactive land to John Q. Public. The commission on that was stratospheric. This sounds like Brewster's Millions.
