| LOL, yeah, that's been around for a while, but it does hit home. A lot of the people here, usually newbies, put off that vibe to be sure, but the long-termers don't really give a rat's arse. It's a place to work. |

Thats funny.
I went through a short early phase here where seeing another whitey on the street somehow diminished my self-aggrandizing sense of pioneering. Took some of the luster off my emails home. Even caught myself feeling hints of resentment.
I was reminded of that yesterday when I passed a white guy in downtown Sokcho (quaint friendly little Sokcho where everyone knows just about everyone) & he purposefully refused to acknowledge me as he passed by.
What makes an experience authentic -- exclusivity? Thats just silly if it denies the evident existence of other non-locals. |
