So I joined a dating site because I'm am in Seoul don't know my way around and am kind of pathetic when it comes to meeting women here.

Long story short there is a pictureless woman that seems rather intent on getting my number. My question is what if any damage can be done with my prepaid cell number in the wrong hands.(besides the obvious peril of an obsessive caller) Is there any reason a scammer would want that info in particular?

The information age has made me rather paranoid.(I already have a co-teacher that stalked me on the internet.)

Actually stalked is a bit strong. But he asked me if I belonged to any social networking sites. I told him not really, I don't use them much. And he went searching for me and made a facebook account just to put me on his friends list. Also he's not actually a co-teacher. He's just in the same office and uncomfortably friendly.

Sounds like most koreans I've met...they're actually really friendly and direct.

Umm.. It's pretty easy for her to get a fake pic, would that make you feel better?

Seriously man, Internet Dating/meeting comes with a bit of trust. chat to the person for a bit, exchange numbers, and see what happens. Korean phones also have a nice feature that allows you to block a number, so if it goes bad just block the number. If it gets really hectic...it is a pay as you go phone after all, and lets be honest, in Korea we exchange numbers with random people like crazy.

Don't worry about it (except for the fact that if she was a hottie, 99% of the time, she'd have a pic up ;-P)

Create a new gmail, yahoo, msn account. Use that to communicate, send pictures etc first. I think you can also give your phone (not VISA) number, it will come in handy for texting (#1 non-verbal communication model in Korea).

Maybe it also depends on what site you are using. Adult Friend Finder might be a bit more direct and risky than UBLove Wink
