I've ordered and got the Texas CBC via mail, but the thing looks like I printed it off online...it has a website address on the bottom of the page. Has anyone successfully used this CBC? Also, has anyone used a different states CBC?

yes, you can use another state's CBC, which is one of the reasons everyone finds the background check so useless. i'm from TX, also, but used a check from TN - i've never technically lived there, and my residency status is still linked to TX. nobody questioned me or my documents and i got my visa confirmation very quickly.

How about the great state of Minnesota? Does anyone know if their CBC looks reputable?

Do you remember how quick the turn around was?

Only a matter of time before they close this loophole and only accept FBI check. Especially since certain bozo's talk about it openly on a site the immy high command follows.

i got my CBC in 10 minutes from the local P.D. apostilled/mailed, etc (2 days). from the time it arrived at the immigration office in korea to the point my confirmation number was sent to me: about 6 days.

ha! there have been a few threads about using CBCs from alternate states. and if you seriously think that immigration finds Dave's ESL Cafe at all a credible source, please provide some examples (other than crazy hagwon bosses and chain schools scouring the forum). i would genuinely love to hear your second-hand anecdotes.

signed,
bozo.

that's encouraging! it only took three days to get my CBC and apostille and it should have been delivered to the immigration office last thursday or friday. i hope it is completed this week but both the school and my recruiter are worried it will be longer....i guess with chuseok it is possible, although wasn't it only a day or two off for the holiday?
