I thought ESL English teachers all have a good command of the English language. I was dead wrong.

I used to think that foreign techers were really people who hadn't flipped burgers and could get dates back in their home country.

I have been considering posting my own jokey response to this thread but have refrained because there is always the chance, that no matter what I think, I might actually be as unfunny as everyone else on here.

It is supposed to be somebody's post. If you are want to refer to more than one person, then use the word "people". If you were drunk and wrote that, then no problem. It happens. Just don't write when you are very hammered.

Yes.

Whenever I see a contrail in the sky, I run for cover, begin shaking violently, and cry like a baby.

Before Dave's, they never bothered me. Laughing

Yes. But not recently.

There used to be some insightful, intelligent people posting on Dave's. Most of them are gone.

I don't know whether they left Korea or just Dave's; I would guess both, given that they were intelligent.

There are still a few interesting intermittent posters, so if you read with discrimination, you can learn something.

I'm not sure what you mean. What I mean is that when I write an opinion about something I'm not so much interested in examining the issue or learning about other peoples opinion as I am in defending my own.

The reason the title of this post is mispelt is because I wanted to fit the question within the character limit allowed for titles. I normally don't spell 'you' as 'u'.

Yes, my opinion has been changed in a number of ways that I think comes from some Dave's posters. Grotto and Derek (two guys who really didn't get along, ironically) made some really good arguments to convert me from being an idealist to a realist when it comes to education. I don't know how much they helped change my mind but I also came to realise that CLG and Jaderedux were right and I was wrong when it came to approaching middle school (though I still think K-girls are hotter).

I've also learned that there are some really interesting people doing some really great things in Korea. Dave's showed me that TEFL in Korea need not be like my first job and were it not for reading of all the great jobs people were doing I may well have languished on in my crapwon and left after a year thinking that Koreans were intrinsically moronic and hopeless.

I've known at least 20 Dave's members in real life and I can also say that I've learned the average Dave's poster is a decent person, despite some of the steam they let off here. That said I can also think of about 10 I hope I never, ever meet in the real world.
