Wow.... smallest amount of legroom I've ever experienced on a flight. I had to sit with my legs apart -- they wouldn't even fit going straight in.
I suppose they were jamming the planes to Busan for maximum profit. That, along with a 70,000 won fuel tax for the RT ticket, and my wife & I each got nailed for 200,000 won! And fuel has dropped below $100 per barrel. Hmm. |

Domestic flights tend to have tighter leg room. Did you ask for an exit row seat?
On international flights, Korean Air tends to offer more leg room (inch or two) in Economy than your average carrier.

They don't do anything differently over holiday periods. They can't exactly make the rows closer together for sold out flights since it's quite an expensive and lengthy undertaking.
If you have the time, I find the old fashioned saemaeul trains are actually the most comfortable. Sure, it takes 5 hours to get from Busan to Seoul but if you have a lot of time on your hands, it's more enjoyable. I prefer it over the KTX. |

I'm guessing you're bigger than the average Korean (for whom the planes were customized).

I avoid Korean airlines because of the lousy beer they serve.
One time I was on a Korean Air flight (code share), I got the emergency exit seats, thinking I'd be nice and comfy. Nope even something so simple they manage to screw up. The seats in the emergency isle don't recline back!!.
They do on the dozen or so other airlines I've flown. |

I have enjoyed my experiences on both Asiana and Korean Air.
Airplanes don't use crude oil. They use jet fuel. Jet fuel needs to be refined, and it takes time to be delivered to a fuel pump.
Don't expect the fuel surcharges to dissappear anytime soon. A lot of the recently expensive oil has yet to be refined and make its way through the system. |

Asiana and Korean Air don't compare to Thailand s airline; Thai Airways. They could do a lot better with what they have to work with, but simply don't deliver the top notch world class service you'll find in neighboring countries airlines. |

What are those numbers again (on a 747 and 777)? I meant to memorize them at one point but forgot.
I probably "couldn't handle the responsbility" anyway |

It's better to check on the airline's website. The seating arrangement on identical planes can differ slightly depending on how the airline specifies it when they order the plane. |

I had a bit better trip on Korean Air as opposed to Asiana. Their service was better than either Asiana or Thai Airways (Although business class in Thai Airways is hard to beat) . You do need to get your seats confirmed no matter what airline you go with. |

I find the service on Asiana to be better than Korean Air. Perhaps it's because I have status on Star Alliance and none on SkyTeam.
The exit rows really differ by plane. If you're flying on a 747, all exit row seats have full recline. Be careful about the exit row window seat because the doors on the 747 (all airlines) protrude out quite a bit so you might have to sit with your legs angled. I would recommend an aisle exit row seat if available. If you're flying on a 777, any exit row seat is fine. |

Are you sure about that? I've seen a few planes there the emergency door release bulges out and results in less legroom. |

I've never experienced that but I sit on the corridor seat while my wife who has shorter legs sits at the window. But I still believe there still is more legroom at the window then the seats where someone is sitting in front of u. |
