Hello
I read somewhere on a board much like this that Canadians that have paid into the Korean pension plan can get their contributions back once they leave the country?
Does anyone have any information on that?
Thank you |

Check out waterbaby's FAQ page.
There are several threads there.
To claim the refund, as I understand you have to fill out a form for the lump sum refund. Take it and your plane ticket to the Pension office for your area and they will process it and photocopy your ticket.
You also need to have a bank account to have the money deposited, so take your bank info with you.
Or, you can do this all when you've returned to Canada too. Either way, as long as your WJN has been forwarding your contributions and his 50% share of the contributions, you should get back double what you've put in yourself.
If you've been here a year and have been earning about 2.0 million a month, you should have round about 2 million coming back to you.
Down side is you may have to pay this money to CPP. I don't know though if that's the case.
