On videos, the elementary kids just absolutely love, "BINGO." That's the song about the dog named bingo. They also love, "Banana Phone."
Yes, I remember seeing this show. Those were the days when the good jobs were at home and yes, making crayons used to be a career that provided a living wage or salary to those workers so they could afford to own a home, raise kids, have a car, and go on vacation each Summer. This is why they were happy and had high morale. They were proud of, "Made in the USA," because in the 20th century it truly meant the best quality with the highest level of technology where employers took care of their people. If the crayons and pencils are made in America today, you can bet the workers are low paid at around $6.25 to $8 per hour with little or no benefits who struggle to raise their kids and make ends meet. This is a new age of difficulty for many.
Anyone seen the Crayola in Korea like you see in this video? I know Korean crayons are made out the same colored wax, but they are different. Now some of my public school students have American yellow #2 erasure pencils that read USA; something I never seen here until recently. Since many of these familiar small things are made in China, it should be easy to find them in Korea too. And I mean all that stuff that used to be made in the USA, but is now made in China or Korea. Guess it's a supply network thing as to why you don't see much for sale in Asia that is produced in Asia. |
