I just started EPIK here in Gyeongbuk and am wondering who I ask the settlement allowance from? I asked my co teacher, and she didn't know what I was talking about. I don't want to step on any toes as I'm new here, but I would really like that bulk of cash because I need to buy things for my apartment. Any suggestions?
Also, when do you get it? |

you come with a manual. your co-teacher should know about the settlement allowance, it's the school that pays you this money within your first week (or should anyway). |

^ : no actually i meant your co-teacher got somesort of booklet or set of papers with instructions on what to do with you, like opening a bank account, alien card information, medical check info., settlement allowance, setting up internet and cable in your apartment, that sort of stuff. maybe she hasn't read it through, i'd ask her if she's received any instructions about the settlement allowance because you've been told the school pays it to you soon. did you go to orientation? |

You could also call your recruiter J.
He may be wondering why you are never online and wants to make sure you are ok.
Maybe you should give him a call and he can help you out with this.
He will be waiting online this weekend for you to call..so SKYPE him.
Politely mention it to your co teacher that the settlement allowance is due to come your way. Make sure you are not demanding and thank her ever so much when it does come in.
Most teachers at these public schools do not know the ins and outs of the foreign teacher's contract. They need some prodding in the right direction. |
