I am moving to Ansan on the 28th and I am afraid I would like to make friends... any tips/advice/places to go would be appreciated. Also anything that would make settling in easier. Thanks |

I guess the OP is afraid he/she will not make friends in Korea. Korea is not best for that, but people usually click with one or two others living in the same town and then many go the duration of this route alone. It's totally different for everyone as it would be anywhere else. |

I'm moving to Korea on the 30th, only I'll be in Daejeon. Im a little bit anxious about the whole thing myself though luckily I have a few friends already in Korea. Of course they all live in Seoul, but thats beside the point I'll wish you luck only if you promise reciprocation |

Daejeon is huge and friendly. You'll find some upscale hotels with great restaurants in yusong, the love motels are in sonhwadong. I have a few friends up there. I don't see them nearly as often as I'd like. Also, you've got a KTX stop that puts you in Seoul in an hour or so if that's how you roll, but don't get all wrapped up in the Seoul scene. You'll find after a few weeks (if you try) that Itaewon is a crutch you don't need on a nightly basis. |

For people who like to drink and go out to bars, I think it's easier to make friends, you'll meet so much people.
But if you're not a huge partier, it might be a bit more challenging to meet people with the same interests, but the internet is your friend- there are so many facebook groups, meetup.com, different clubs. You'll have to go out of your comfort zone but it's worth it. |
